Your First Visit

The initial visit allows us to learn about you and your orthodontic needs. In our office, every effort is made to meet your needs in a timely and caring manner. Each individual’s condition is unique and deserves personalized attention.

Parents are encouraged to be present during the initial exam and consultation. Dr. Haney will conduct a thorough examination for you or your child and summarize the answers in the following questions:

  1. Is there an orthodontic problem?
  2. If so, what is it?
  3. Can it be corrected?
  4. When should it be corrected?
  5. How long will it take to correct it?

After Dr. Haney has answered your questions our treatment coordinator will explain the financial investment and explain the different payment options and insurance benefits. We reserve a photos and impressions appointment immediately following the exam so we may save you a visit. We understand your time is valuable!

The second step will depend on the answers to all the above questions. Dr. Haney will advise on of the following:

  1. START TREATMENT: We can take your photographs and impressions the same day as your exam and often start treatment within one week
  2. GROWTH MONITORING: It is too early to make an improvement by doing anything now. We will see you in 6 to 12 months for a progress evaluation
  3. CONSULTATION: Treatment is needed now. A complete diagnosis is necessary, utilizing radiographs (X-rays) of the jaw bones, photographs of the face and teeth, and study models of the teeth. Dr. Haney will review your records and determine the best treatment options for you. Depending on the complexity of the case, we will either schedule you for an in-office follow-up consultation or a phone consultation.
  4. Orthodontic treatment is not indicated

We will keep your records in our current file for ninety days. The fee quoted and treatment plan described my change if treatment is not started within that time.
